Meet Annual Giving Manager Scott Forosisky
Why did you decide to come work for CASA? I've been in the non-profit industry long enough to know it's what I want to do for the rest of my career. I've worked for arts institutions, museums, animal welfare, and now CASA. When you look at the mission and the scope of work we're doing at CASA, it's easy to work each day and strive to make a difference.
What is your professional and educational background? I have a BA in History from the University of North Texas and initially wanted to teach US history and coach high school baseball. As it goes, plans fall through and life changes happen, and I was set on the non-profit course almost by accident. I fell into it, then fell in love with it, and couldn't see myself doing anything else.
What keeps you coming back every month in helping CASA? Just wanting to make a difference and be a net positive for the community. I like that the work I do benefits more than a company bottom line - that I get to put effort into bettering the lives of others.
What has been the most rewarding part of being on staff at CASA? Seeing everyone's genuine passion for the work, and knowing that we're all pulling in the same direction.
Please share a special moment with us about your work with CASA volunteers or supporters. National Adoption Day, for sure. What a great "experience the mission" moment that was. Just joy all around. Positive vibes from everyone, and not a dry eye in the house.
What would you say to a potential supporter? Let us show you what we do - the difference we make in the lives of these kids. The support and advocacy we can provide. And the need is ever-present. For as much good as we're doing, we could always do more, and will.
Why do you think itโs important for your local community to support CASA and what they do? Because we're an integral part of the community. We'd love a world where CASA isn't needed, but we aren't there yet. And until we are, we need to work hand-in-hand with the community to tackle the challenges we're facing.
Do you want to share some encouraging words to our volunteers? Keep doing what you're doing and know that we recognize the work you put in and the effect you're having on the kids and families you serve. You're the heartbeat of this place, and without you there is no CASA.
