After retiring in 2006 from a successful career in the Fort Worth business community, Morris Johnston did not stop working. He brought his experience and integrity into the volunteer sector and became a volunteer Advocate for CASA of Tarrant County.
His steadfastness, compassion and generosity propelled him through 14 cases in the first four years. Twenty children, once abused and neglected, are now happy and thriving thanks to Morris. He has earned the respect of his fellow volunteer Advocates, his community and the court system. Morris was recently named State Advocate of the Year by Texas CASA, which he humbly called “an indescribably priceless honor.”
“Morris Johnston truly understands the value of CASA’s involvement in the difficult cases with which CPS courts wrestle,” said Judge Ellen Smith. “He has the deep respect of the court, the families he has served, and the lawyers with whom he has advocated for improved outcomes for those with the smallest voices.”
