Fort Worth — For 40 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) have worked to speak up for abused and neglected children in Tarrant County. When a home is deemed unsafe and a child must enter foster care, a judge may appoint a CASA volunteer to guide that child to a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible. CASAs engage in legislative advocacy, attend meetings with children, and fight for foster kids’ best interests in court to ensure they don’t slip through cracks within Child Protective Services and the legal system.

On Thursday, Oct. 19 CASA of Tarrant County will host its annual Kids on Canvas event from 5:30-8 p.m.
