Recently, a federal judge ruled that the Texas child welfare system violated the rights of foster children. These children are some of our most vulnerable citizens, and too many are slipping through the cracks of an overburdened system. This past year, CASA volunteers in Texas served 25,947 abused or neglected children, but this was still only a little more than half of the children in care.

More CASA volunteers are needed to speak up for children’s best interest in the courts to ensure that they have the opportunity to find a safe, permanent home where they can thrive.

Find out more about the ruling and CASA’s role in advocating for children in this story from KXAN Austin News.
